Many patients who want straight teeth are embarrassed to wear bulky, noticeable metal braces, especially as adults. Invisalign® serves as a comfortable, removable, and nearly invisible alternative to traditional braces. Each aligner is customized to fit comfortably and discreetly into your smile. Terry Lee Work and Mary Ann Work at Dental Works in Scottsdale, AZ, can determine your candidacy for treatment.

Why Choose Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom clear aligners to readjust a misaligned smile. This state-of-the-art system is so subtle, it can be difficult to notice when someone is undergoing treatment, especially compared to other orthodontic options like traditional metal braces.

Greater Comfort

The metal brackets and wires of braces can rub, snag, and irritate the delicate soft tissues inside your mouth. In contrast, Invisalign is fabricated from a clear plastic material with a snug fit and smooth edges. Consequently, the clear aligner offer a more comfortable experience than traditional orthodontics.

Unrestricted Diet & Better Oral Hygiene

Invisalign trays are also removable. As a result, patients can enjoy all their favorite crunchy and sticky foods during treatment without worrying about expensive damage to their orthodontics. Even better, being able to remove your trays allows you to more thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. This allows patients to better maintain their oral health while receiving treatment.

Improved Oral Health

Although the goal of Invisalign is to achieve a straight smile, this cosmetic effect also benefits your oral and overall health. After treatment, you may find that it has become easier to brush and floss your teeth. Not only will your oral health improve, so will your confidence as you share your new smile with the world.

Invisalign treatment can address the needs of a wide range of conditions that require orthodontic attention. Unfortunately, unlike traditional orthodontics, the ability of the clear aligner to correct severe irregularities is limited. Severe gaps or certain types of misalignments may require the strength provided by metal braces.

Treatment Process

From start to finish, treatment can take 12 to 18 months. The process begins with a consultation. If we determine that Invisalign is a good fit for your needs, we can begin planning your treatment. During this stage, a customized treatment plan is created to fabricate a series of aligners that will adjust your smile over the next year. Fabrication of these aligners will take several weeks.Once they are complete, you can begin treatment.

During the course of treatment, you will switch trays every two weeks or so. Every four to six weeks, we will schedule a check-up to monitor progress. After treatment is completed, you can maintain your straightened teeth by wearing your final aligner or a custom retainer.

Other Considerations

It is important to keep in mind that wearing the aligner requires a certain level of responsibility. For the treatment plan to be effective, you must be committed to wearing the aligners at least 20 to 22 hours per day. If you forget them back in or lose an aligner, it can set your treatment back several weeks or longer.
